HListening to sound from an external unit

To listen to digital sound

1Press the AUX button so that the AUX OPT. or AUX COAX display appears.

IEach time the button is pressed, the display will change as follows:

AUX1 AUX2 AUX OPT. AUX COAX PHONO

2Start playback on the external unit.

3Adjust the sound level using the VOLUME control of this unit.

Note:

In the following cases, "DIN UNLOCK" appears and playback sound is muted:

IWhen the external digital unit is off.

IWhen there is no digital input from the digital input jack.

To listen to analog sound

1Press the AUX button so that the AUX 1 or AUX 2 display appears.

IWhen connecting an external unit to the "MD IN/AUX1 " terminal at the front of the main unit, select "AUX1". When connecting to the "AUX2" terminal at the rear of the main unit, select "AUX2".

2Adjust the input sound level using the INPUT LEVEL control.

IWhen the INPUT LEVEL control is turned counterclockwise, no sound is obtained.

3Start playback on the external unit.

4Adjust the volume using the INPUT LEVEL control and VOL- UME control on this unit.

HSynchro recording

MD recording will start automatically as soon as playback is started on the external unit. This applies to both digital inputs and analog inputs.

IThe space-cut function will work automatically during synchro record- ing.

ISynchro recording is available only for recordings from an external unit.

1Load a recordable MiniDisc.

2Press the AUX button to select the auxiliary input .

ISelect the input that corresponds to the terminals where the external unit you want to record from is connected.

IEach time the button is pressed, the display will change as follows:

AUX1 AUX2 AUX OPT. AUX COAX PHONO To record analog signals, perform steps 3 - 8.

To record digital signals, perform steps 6 - 8.

3Press the REC button, then start playback on the external unit.

4Adjust the recording level using the INPUT LEVEL control.

IThe maximum level should not exceed 0 dB.

5Stop playback on the external unit.

6Press the MD H button.

7Press the SYNCHRO REC button.

8Start playback on the external unit.

IRecording will start automatically.

ITo stop recording halfway, press the MD H button.
