the phone can be set to alert you with a tone each time a new message is received

Cell Broadcast Language

your phone can only receive messages if the language of broadcast has been entered in a preferred language list. It is a good idea to have more than one language in the list if you travel abroad, otherwise you will not receive broadcast messages. There must be at least one entry before the cell broadcast feature can be switched ON
