Set the remote control mode selector to “DVD.”

Be sure to turn down the volume:

Before connecting or putting on headphones, as high volume can damage both the headphones and your hearing.

Before removing headphones, as high volume may output from the speakers.

Adjusting the output level of subwoofer

You can adjust the output level of the subwoofer.

Once you have adjusted the output level of the subwoofer, the adjustment is memorized for each source.

You can also adjust the output level using the on-screen menu (see page 59).

From the remote control ONLY:

1Press SOUND.

2Press S.WFR +/– to adjust the output level of the subwoofer (–10 dB to +10 dB).

Turning off the sound temporarily

Adjusting the volume

You can adjust the volume level within the range of “0” (minimum) to “70” (maximum).

Press VOLUME +/–.

Press + to increase the volume.

Press – to decrease the volume.

The volume level appears on the display.

Turning off the sound temporarily CAUTION:

Always set the volume to the minimum before starting any source.

If the volume is set at its high level, the sudden blast of sound energy can permanently damage your hearing and/or ruin your speakers.

7Listening with headphones

Connect a pair of headphones to the PHONES jack on the center unit. This cancels the Surround/DSP mode (see pages 31 to 33) currently selected, deactivates speakers, and activates the HEADPHONE mode.

Disconnecting a pair of headphones from the PHONES jack cancels the HEADPHONE mode and activates speakers and previously selected Surround/DSP mode.

HEADPHONE mode

When using the headphones, the following signals are transmitted regardless of your speaker setting:

—For 2 channel sources, the front left and right channel signals are output directly from the left and right headphones.

—For multi-channel sources, the front left and right, center and surround channel signals are down-mixed and then output from the headphones.

You can enjoy down-mixed multi-channel sound source using the headphones.

From the remote control ONLY:

Press MUTING.

“MUTING” appears on the display and the volume turns off.

To restore the sound

Press MUTING again.

Pressing VOLUME +/– also restores the sound.

Adjusting the brightness

You can dim the indications on the display.

From the remote control ONLY:

Press DIMMER.

Each time you press the button, the brightness level changes as follows.

DIMMER 1 :Dims the display and the blue light on the both sides of the display.

DIMMER 2 :Dims the display and turns off the blue light on the both sides of the display.

OFF:Lights up the display and the blue light on the both sides of the display.
