Section 5 • Fuel System

Doors, hatches – closed.

Smoking material – extinguished.

Inboard tanks – grounded.

Filler pipe – marked GAS or DIESEL.

Fuel nozzle – in contact with filler pipe to prevent static sparks.

Fill level – fill less than rated capacity of tank; allow for fuel expansion.

Trim – fuel weight distributed equally.

D.After Fueling – Checklist:

Doors, hatches – open.

Sniff test – if fuel fumes remain, operate blowers until fumes are gone.

Fuel tank – secure filler cap.

Spills – wipe; dispose of rags ashore.
