Cura dell'ipertensione

Se nell'arco di diversi giorni si riscontrano ripetutamente valori di pressione arteriosa superiori a 140-160 mmHg (massima) e inferiori a 90-95 mmHg (minima), rivolgersi al proprio medico per sottoporsi a ulteriori accertamenti. È possibile aumentare l'efficacia della cura nei seguenti modi:

•Perdere peso e abbassare la colesterolemia ridu- cendo la quantità di calorie e grassi nella dieta. Limitare l'assunzione di grassi di origine animale e aumentare il consumo di frutta e verdura.

•Ridurre il consumo di alcolici.

•Ridurre l'assunzione di sale: si raccomanda un consumo giornaliero non superiore a sei grammi (un cucchiaino da tè).

•Smettere di fumare.

•Svolgere regolarmente un'attività fisica.

•Controllare la pressione sanguigna.
