Procedure for connecting the charger and charging

The wheelchair can be charged via one of two charging sockets. The charger socket most convenient and often used is located on the front of the Pilot/ Pilot+ Control Box (Fig. 54A). The other charger socket is located on the rear of the battery boxes (Fig. 54B). The charger socket on the battery box is useful should you require to charge the batteries independently from the chair, to do this remove the batteries and charge in a more convenient location making sure that the two batteries are connected together.

Connect the charger to the mains supply by means of the mains plug and switch on. The yellow ‘mains on’ indicator should light up immediately (Fig. 55), followed shortly afterwards by the orange ‘charging’ indicator.

The battery is fully charged when the green ‘charge complete’ light illuminates. if not needed for use the battery may be left charging indefinitely without risk of damage.

If the chair is required for use before the ‘charge complete light’ shows, then it is possible to obtain restricted use once the ‘bulk charge’ light has illuminated.
