RETRACTING THE MKIV

JOYSTICK (FIGURE 1)

NOTE: The MKIV joystick can be retracted from it's position in front of the armrest and maneuvered so that it is parallel to the armrest. When the MKIV joy- stick is parallel to the armrest, the wheelchair can be SLOWLY maneuvered to allow the end-user to po- sition the wheelchair at a table, desk, etc...

WARNING

Positioning the joystick PARALLEL to the arm- rest allows the wheelchair to be SLOWLY maneuvered up to a desk/table. ANY other wheelchair operation is to be performed with the joystick secured with the retaining pin in theFRONTALposition-otherwiseinjuryordam- age may result.

NOTE: To return the MKIV joystick to the frontal position, reverse the following steps.

1.Position the wheelchair so that it is close to and facing the desk, table, etc...

2.Pull the retaining pin securing the joystick in the frontal position.

3.Grasp the joystick and push it OUTWARD and BACK, until the joystick is parallel to the armrest.

4.Slowly maneuver the wheelchair up to the desk, table, etc...
