11.8 Removing/Installing the Camber Tube

￿ CAUTION

Camber tube clamps - Make sure the clamp screws are securely tightened before using the wheelchair, otherwise personal injury or damage to the wheelchair may occur.

For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 9 on page 76.

Removing the Camber Tube

1.Remove the rear wheels. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels on page 66.

It may be necessary to gently pry open the camber tube clamp assembly using screwdriver.

2.Loosen the two socket head clamp screws securing camber tube to the two camber tube clamps.

3.Slide the camber tube through the camber tube clamps.

Installing the Camber Tube

1.Insert the camber tube into the camber tube clamps.

2.Center the camber tube in the camber tube clamps.

3.Adjust the camber tube. Refer to Adjusting the Camber Tube on page 77.

There are two types of camber tubes: 0° and 3°. If the camber tube being used is 3° degrees, then the camber tube MUST be rotated so that the axle bushings at the ends of camber tube are angled up (Detail “A”). Installing the camber tube in any other orientation will directly impact the angle of the rear wheel.
