∙Light-emitting diode (LED) status lights : Indicates user presence information (Green indicates “Available”, Amber indicates “Away”, Green & Amber indicates “Inactive”, and Red indicates “Busy” or “Active Call”)

∙Scroll-wheel:Navigates up and down the contact list and other elements of the user interface.

∙Volume up/down button: Increases and decreases the volume for the ringer, handset, and loudspeaker.

∙Mute microphone: Disable or enable audio input

∙Speakerphone button: Activate or deactivate speakerphone

∙Headset button: Activate or deactivate headset audio

∙Finger reader: Allows you to log on to your IP8540 with the touch of your finger

∙Help: Displays context sensitive help
