You can let the system answer calls while you listen to the caller’s message through the speaker.
Press TALK/FLASH to answer the call if the handset is off the base, or lift the handset if it is on the base. You can also pick up any phone on the same line.
The system stops recording and resets to answer the next call.
Press VOL8 or 9 to adjust the call screening volume level. If you do not want to listen to calls, repeatedly press VOL9 until & appears. ±ý

After the system answers a call, it plays the outgoing message, beeps, then records the caller’s message. Each incoming message can be up to 1 or 4 minutes long, depending on how you set the recording time (see “Setting the Record Time” on Page 28). The maximum recording capacity is about 16 minutes (or 59 messages).
The system stops recording and resets to answer the next call when:
•The caller hangs up.
•The maximum message length is reached.
•The system detects a busy signal or more than 7 seconds of silence.
•You pick up the handset or any phone on the same phone line. ±ý

A memo is a message you can record for yourself or others. The system stores memos as incoming messages (see “Playing Messages”).
Hold down MEMO until the system announces “Record memo message” and beeps. Speak your message. #ý# flashes.

When the message memory is full, the caller hears “Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please call again.” The system cannot record additional messages until you delete some of the old messages (see “Deleting Messages” on Page 33).
