1.Press MENU five times. The system announces “Message Alert” followed by the current setting. The current setting — E< (Off) or Ed — appears.
2.Press 6or7to select Ed or E<.
3.Press SET/RING to store the setting. A beep sounds, then the system announces “Message Alert” followed by the new setting.
When the first new message is received, a beep sounds.

The Message Alert tone automatically stops when you have listened to all the new messages.
To turn off the Message Alert tone sooner, press any key on the base. The Message Alert tone automatically sounds when the next message is received.

The system has two prerecorded outgoing messages. One asks the caller to leave a message: “Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone.” The system uses this message when the recording time is set to ' or * (see “Setting the Record Time” on Page 28).
The other announcement does not allow the caller to leave a message: “Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please call again.” The system uses this message when the recording time is set to Announce Only.
You can also record your own message (see “Recording/Deleting an Outgoing Message” on Page 30). When you record your own outgoing message and select it, the system uses it for all recording time settings (', *, and 7).
