DWeather alert function

NOAA broadcast stations transmit weather alert tones before important weather announcements. When the weather alert function is turned ON, the selected weather channel is moni- tored each 5 sec. for the announcement. When the alert signal is detected, the “ALT” and the “WX” indications are displayed alternately and sounds a beep tone until the receiver is oper- ated. The previously selected (used) weather channel is checked periodically during standby or while scanning.

wTurn the weather alert function ON in set mode.

Push [8 SET] for 1 sec. to enter set mode.

Rotate [R-DIAL]to select “WX ALERT,” then push [8 SET]. Rotate [R-DIAL]to select “ON.”

Push [DUALWATCH] to exit set mode.

eSet the desired stand-by condition.

Select VFO or memory channel.

Scan or priority watch operation can also be selected.

rWhen the alert is detected, a beep sounds and the follow- ing indication will be displayed.
