FUEL FILTER SERVICE

WARNING

When working on the fuel system

Keep naked lights away, do not smoke !

Do not spill fuel !

------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.Check the fuel filter for water accumulation or sedi- ment.

2.Replace the fuel filter if it is found with excessive water accumulation or sediment.

ENGINE ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING

OVERSPEED IS HAZARDOUS

The maximum allowable high idle speed for this machine is 3750 RPM, no load. Do NOT tamper with governor components or setting or make any other adjustments to increase the maximum speed. Severe personal injury and damage to the machine can result if operated at speeds above maximum.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adjustments to the engine are to be made only by a Lincoln Service Center or an authorized Field Service Shop.

BATTERY MAINTENANCE

WARNING

GASES FROM BATTERY can explode.

Keep sparks, flame and cigarettes away from battery.

To prevent EXPLOSION when:

INSTALLING A NEW BATTERY disconnect negative cable from old battery first and connect to new battery last.

CONNECTING A BATTERY CHARGER remove battery from welder by disconnecting nega- tive cable first, then positive cable and battery clamp. When reinstalling, connect

negative cable last. Keep well ventilated.

USING A BOOSTER connect positive lead to battery first then connect negative lead to negative battery lead at engine foot.

BATTERY ACID can burn eyes and skin.

Wear gloves and eye protection and be careful when working near battery.

Follow instructions printed on battery.

To prevent ELECTRICAL DAMAGE when:

a)Installing a battery.

b)Using a booster.

Use correct polarity - Negative Ground.

To prevent BATTERY DISCHARGE, if you have an ignition switch, turn it off when engine is not running.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The battery is a group 58, with a rating of 435 cold cranking amps.

CLEANING THE BATTERY

Keep the battery clean by wiping it with a damp cloth when dirty. If the terminals appear corroded, discon- nect the battery cables and wash the terminals with an ammonia solution or a solution of 1/4 pound (0.1113 kg) of baking soda and 1 quart (0.946 L) of water. Be sure the battery vent plugs (if equipped) are tight so that none of the solution enters the cells.
