basic saw operation

RIPPING

Ripping - A cutting or shaping operation along the length of the workpiece.

Position the Fence to the desired WIDTH OF RiP and lock in place.

Before starting to alp,be sure:

1.Rip Fence is parallel to sawblade.

2.Spreader is properly aligned with sawblade.

3.Anti-Kickback Pawls are functioning properly.

When ripping LONG BOARDS or LARGE PANELS, always use a work support.

A simple one can be made by clamping a piece of plywood to a sawhorse.

ALWAYS SUPPORT LONG WORKPIECES

USING FEATHERBOARDS FOR THRU SAWING

Featherboards are NOT employed for thru-sawing operations when using the Miter Gauge.

Featherbaords are used to keep the work in contact with the Fence and table as shown, and to help stop kick- backs.

Add 7-1/2 inches high flat facing board to the Fence, the full length of the Fence.

Mount Featherboards to Fence and table as shown, so that leading edges of Featherboards will supporl work- piece.

WARNING: Make surethe Featherboard against the edge presses only onthe uncut portion (forward o! the blade), it might otherwise pinch the blade In the kerr and cause a kickback.

Before starting the operation (switch =OFF" and cutter below table sudace):

1, Install Featherboards so they exert pressure on the workpieoe; be positive they are secure, and

2.Make sure by trial that the Featherboards will stop a kickback if one should occur.
