Pressing the Jog/Purge switch allows the op- erator to jog wire without energizing the weld power or gas valve circuit.

The unit also provides the ability to jog the wire feeder by means of the gun trigger, however, the contactor is energized for 3 seconds.

If the welding arc does not initiate in 3 sec- onds after the gun trigger is activated, the

unit will perform a jog operation for a maxi- mum of two minutes. If the gun trigger is still activated after two minutes, the jog opera- tion is terminated to prevent complete des- pooling of the wire, as in the case of a dam- aged gun.

Despooling protection is not available if current detect override is enabled (when DIP switch S1-1 on motor board PC1 is in On position as shown in Section 3-7).

Jog speed can be adjusted with the Wire Speed control when the unit is jogging wire. If equipped with optional meters, the unit displays jog speed while the unit is be- ing jogged.

Pressing the Jog/Purge button also allows the operator to purge gas lines before welding and to preset gas pressure at the regulator.
