SECTION 6: OPERATION
Operation Safety | Choosing Sandpaper | |
|
|
|
Your safety is important! Please follow the warnings below during this entire section:
To avoid serious personal injury, read and become familiar with the entire instruction manual before using the Model G0518.
Damage to your eyes, lungs, and ears could result from failure to wear safety glasses, a dust mask, and hearing protec- tion while sanding with this machine.
Loose hair and clothing could get caught in machinery and cause serious personal injury. Keep loose clothing rolled up and long hair tied up and away from machinery.
The grit you choose will depend on the type of work, the species of wood and the stage of fin- ishing. Below is a chart that groups sandpaper into different categories and shows which grits fall into each one. We recommend using aluminum oxide sandpaper for best results.
Grit | Type |
60Coarse
Fine |
The general rule of thumb is to sand a workpiece with progressively higher grit numbers, with no one grit increase of more than 50; however, the type of wood you use and your stage of finish will determine the best grit types to install on your sander.
