Disables the flash.

Flash works automatically when the subject or background is

dark.

If the object or background is dark, the camcorder flash

operates automatically and flashes just before the picture is

taken (pre-flash). This helps reduce the incidence of red eye.

Flash always works regardless of brightness.

Light intensity is adjusted automatically.

Flash works when the shutter speed is slow.

• It is suitable for use around sundown or in dark places.

• We recommend you use a tripod (purchase separately) to

prevent camcorder shake.

In Smart Auto mode, the smart flash icon appears

automatically. According to the brightness for subject and

background, the flash automatically works.

• Do not use the flash with a hand covered on it.

• Do not use a flash too close to the eyes of a person.

• Select a flash mode and press the PHOTO button. The camcorder performs a pre-flash to make

sure the recording conditions (distance from objects and amount of light) are acceptable. Do not

move until the second flash occurs.

• As using the flash consumes more power, the more you use the flash, the shorter the battery time.

• The flash usually recharges within 5 seconds. However, it may take longer to charge the flash when

the battery is low.

• You can capture bright and clear photos within the recordable range when you use the flash.

• When you record a strongly reflecting object or an object out of the recordable range, the

camcorder can not capture bright and clear images.

• When you use the flash in a dark place, foreign substances such as dust can be reflected in the

light from the flash, so that blur, white dots, round dots, or white circles may appear on the images.

This is not a malfunction of the camcorder.

• You cannot use a flash under the following conditions:

- when using the continuous shooting function

47

- when capturing photos in the video record mode.
