4.5 | Network Configuration | The Ethernet interface makes it possible to integrate the RMS into a local |

| network (10 Mbit Ethernet), thus making the following functions |

| available: |

| – SNMP support, thus integration into network management platforms |
|
| – Log book functional capabilities (syslog service) |
|
| – Loading and saving the system configuration (TFTP) |
|
| – Updating the system (TFTP) |
|
| • If the RMS is not operated in an Ethernet network, the settings descri- |
|
| bed in this chapter can be ignored. |
| Note | If you are unclear about the conditions of the local network, please ask |
|
| your network administrator for assistance. |
|
| Incorrect settings can have the effect that the device is isolated from the |
|
| network and/or is no longer capable of sending messages to the desired |
|
| destination addresses (see also > 4.5.1). |
