REINFORCED OVEREDGE STITCH

This stitch is perfect for attaching flat elastic. It can also be used for smocking and as a seam finish.

POINT SURJET RENFORCÉ

Ces deux points sont parfaits pour fixer un élastique plat. C’est aussi un point très solide. Il permet également de poser aisément un élastique sur une pièce de lingerie. Il convient aussi au smocking.

This is a popular decorative stitch. It can also be used for joining two separate pieces of fabric, leaving a little space in between. Fold under the seam allowances on the cut edges, and press. Baste folded edges to tissue paper with about 1/8" (0.3 cm) space between. Stitch over the 1/8" (0.3 cm) allowance, just catching the fabric fold on both sides with needle. Remove bastings and paper; press.

C'est un point décoratif très apprécié (utilisé pour la couture des manches ou des devants de blouses et de robes). Pour assembler deux morceaux de tissus, laisser un peu d'espace entre les deux. Pour préparer le tissu pliez sous le rebord, et pressez. Bâtissez les bords pliés sur du papier tissu en laissant des espaces d'environs 3 mm (1/8 po’) coudre les rebords à 3 mm (1/8 po), en tenant le pli du tissu sur les deux bords avec l’aiguille. Retirez les bâtis et le papier; puis repassez.

Esta es una puntada muy popular (usada en mangas o delanteros de blusas y vestidos). Para sujetar dos piezas separadas de tejido dejar un pequeño espacio entre ellas. Para preparar el tejido: Doblar el tejido hacia abajo y presionarlo. Hilvanar los bordes doblados al papel de seda, dejando un espacio de 1/8". Coser por encima del espacio de 1/8", cogiendo con la aguja el género doblado por ambos lados. Sacar los hilvanes y el papel; planchar.
