What is wrong and why?

We strongly recommend that you carry out the following checks on your oven before calling a Service Engineer. It may be that the problem is a simple one which you can solve yourself, without the expense of a service call.

If the Service Engineer finds that the problem is listed below, you will be charged for the call whether or not the cooker is under guarantee.

Problem

The oven or grill will not light.

Check

Check that the oven is switched on at the wall. Check that the timer is set to 'manual' (See page 25).

Check that the power supply has not been interrupted before the cooling fan has had time to cool the oven down. Check that the oven is switched on at the wall and allow the cooling fan to cool the oven

Check that there is not a problem with your gas supply. You can do this by making sure that other gas appliances such as your central heating or gas fire are working.

Problem

Food is cooking too quickly or too slowly.

Check that you are using the recommended gas marks and shelf positions. See pages 17,18 and 19. Be prepared to adjust the gas mark up or down to achieve the results you want.

The oven is not cooking evenly.

Check

Check that the oven is installed properly and is level.

Check that you are using the recommended temperatures and shelf positions.

If you are using a tin or tray which is larger than the one we

lrecommended, be prepared to turn it round during cooking.

If you are cooking a large item be prepared to turn it round during cooking.
