Setting Preheat

For best baking performance, when baking more delicate goods such as cakes, pastries, and breads, use the normal bake function to preheat the oven.

For all other baking use the Preheat feature. A reminder tone will sound indicating when the set temperature is reached and to place the food in the oven.

When the oven is finished preheating the Bake feature will be active and continue to maintain the oven set temperature until cancelled.

Preheat may be set for any oven temperature between 170°F (77°C) and 550°F (288°C).

Always use pot holders or oven mitts when using the oven. When cooking, the oven interior, oven exterior, oven racks and oven will become very hot which can cause burns.

To set Preheat with default oven temperature of 350°F:

1.Press PreHeat.

2.Press (Figure 9).

Radiant bake rack positions

Fully preheat the oven before baking items like cookies, biscuits and breads.

When using any single rack, position the rack so that the food is in the center of the oven.

For best results when baking cakes using 2 oven racks, place racks in positions 2 and 4 (Figure 10).

When baking using 2 oven racks, position bakeware as shown in Figure 10. Allow at least 2 inches (5 cm) of space between bakeware for proper air circulation.

Dark or dull pans absorb more heat than shiny bakeware, resulting in dark or overbrowning of foods. It may be necessary to reduce the oven temperature or cook time to prevent overbrowning of some foods. Dark pans are recom- mended for pies. Shiny pans are recommended for cakes, cookies and muffins.

For batter and dough-based baked goods such as cakes, pastries, and breads, use the regular bake function for best results.
