XProcessor & Clock Options

Warning: Take Caution when changing the Advanced settings. An incorrect value, a very high DRAM frequency or incorrect DRAM timing may cause system to become unstable. When this occurs, revert to the default setting.

CPU Ratio

This feature allows the user to use the CPU clock multiplier to multiply CPU speed in order to en- hance performance. Select Manual to Manually set the multiplier set- ting. Select Auto for the BIOS to automatically select the CPU multiplier setting for your system. The options are Auto and Manual.

Ratio CMOS Setting

This option allows the user to set the ratio between the CPU Core Clock and the FSB Frequency. (Note: if an invalid ratio is entered, the AMI BIOS will restore the setting to the previous state.) The default setting depends on the type of CPU is installed. The default setting for the Intel® Core i7™ 965 is [24].

Clock Spread Spectrum

Select Enable to use the feature of Clock Spectrum, which will allow the BIOS to monitor and attempt to reduce the level of Electromagnetic Interference caused by the components whenever needed. Select Disabled to enhance system stability. The options are Disabled and Enabled.

Hardware Prefetcher (Available when supported by the CPU)

If set to Enabled, the hardware pre fetcher will pre fetch streams of data and instruc- tions from the main memory to the L2 cache in the forward or backward manner to improve CPU performance. The options are Disabled and Enabled.

Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch (Available when supported by the CPU)

The CPU fetches the cache line for 64 bytes if this option is set to Disabled. The CPU fetches both cache lines for 128 bytes as comprised if Enabled.
