Installing DRAM or Video Memory

Important Before installing memory, read “About Memory” at the beginning of this chapter. Also, follow the steps in “Opening the Computer” to open the computer safely.

Warning If you are installing video memory and an internal modem blocks access to the video memory slot, do not remove the modem yourself. Only an Apple-certified technician or authorized service provider can remove the modem. Close the computer by following the instructions in “Closing the Computer” later in this chapter. Then take the computer to an Apple-certified technician or authorized service provider, who can install the video memory for you. To avoid damaging your computer, do not attempt to install video memory if your computer came with an internal modem.
