Installing an Expansion Card

Expansion cards are printed circuit boards that can be installed in your computer to give it special capabilities, such as enhanced video capabilities, networking and communications, and additional processing power. Your Macintosh has slots available for several different kinds of expansion cards:

ma communication slot for an internal modem or Ethernet card

ma video-in slot for a card that brings signals into the computer from a videocassette recorder (VCR), laserdisc player, video camera, or similar device

ma processor-direct slot (PDS) for most cards

ma monitor-out slot for a tiny card with a cable that can be connected to an external video connector card, which can be used for video mirroring
