Answering system operation
Outgoing announcements
Outgoing announcements are the messages call-
ers hear when calls are answered by the answering
system.
The phone is pre-programmed with announce-
ments f or nor mal (an swer an d record ) mode and
for announcement only mode (see page 33). If the
phone i s set up to r ecord m essages , the pho ne
answers calls with “Hello. Please leave a message
after the tone.” You can us e this announ cement, o r
replace it wit h a rec ording of your own vo ice.
To record your outgoing announcement
Press SETUP until you hear "Announcement. Press
PLAY or press RECORD. To continue setup, press
SETUP." Then press REC /MEMO an d begin speaki ng
after y ou hear "Reco rd after the t one. Pres s STOP
when you are done." Speak facing the telephone
base fr om abou t nine inches away. Press PLAY/ STOP
when yo u are d one.
Elapsed time (in seconds) will be shown in
the me ssage w indow a s you re cord. You can
record an anno uncemen t up t o 90 se conds l ong.
Announcements less than three seconds long will
not be recorde d.
To delete your outgoing announcement
Press SETUP until you hear “Announcement. Press
PLAY or press RECORD . To continue setup, press
SETUP.” Then p ress PLAY  /STOP to be gin pl ay-
back. Pre ss DELETE during playback to delete your
announcement.
When your announcement is deleted, calls will be
answered with the pre-programmed announcement
describ ed abo ve.
