SERVSWITCH™ BRAND CAT5 KVM MICRO EXTENDER

4.2.3TO CONNECT A MONITOR, KEYBOARD, AND MOUSE TO THE REMOTE UNIT OR TO THE

USER PORTS ON THE DUAL-ACCESS LOCAL UNIT

You’ll be plugging the monitor, keyboard, and mouse directly into the corresponding user ports on the Remote Unit or Dual-Access Local Unit. If your touchscreen or other serial device is made to plug directly into a CPU, it will plug directly into the serial connector of the KVM/Serial/Audio Remote Unit; if not, you will need a serial cable to attach the device:

If the serial device is DCE and has a DB25 female connector, use a DB9 female to DB25 male modem cable such as product code EVMBMC.

If the serial device is DTE and has a DB25 female connector, use a DB9 female to DB25 male null-modem cable such EVMBPC.

If the serial device is DTE and has a DB25 male connector, use a DB9 female to DB25 female null-modem cable such as BC01900.

If the serial device is DTE and has a DB9 male connector, use a DB9 female to DB9 female null-modem cable such as EYN257H.

NOTE

KVM/Serial/Audio Extender systems only: Because the KVM/Serial/ Audio Extender transparently passes through RTS, CTS, DTR, and DSR, it is possible to substitute additional TD/RD data pairs (to/from a second or third serial device) for each pair of these hardware flow-control signals if you’re using software flow control (or no flow control) instead. To do this, you’ll need to attach special breakout cables to the Extender’s serial ports. Call Black Box Technical Support if you’d like to do this.

If your audio device is made to plug directly into a CPU, it will plug directly into the KVM/Serial/Audio Remote Unit; if not, you will need an audio cable such as product code EJ110-0010 to attach the device.
