Turning on the system

You can turn your system on and off by pressing the On/Off button on the remote or the Power button on top of the media center. Or, you can press any source button on the remote to select the source and turn the system on at the same time.

If you followed the instructions in the Setup section of this guide, you can turn on the media center by simply pressing the Video 1 button on your remote.

To turn on a component connected to the media center, use the remote or power switch for that specific component, or the advanced remote supplied with the 3•2•1 GS system.

Note: The basic 3•2•1 remote and media center cannot switch components, such as the TV or VCR, on or off. However, the advanced remote supplied with the 3•2•1 GS system can be “taught” to do so. For additional information about the advanced remote, see “The advanced remote control” on page 28.

The remote control

Note: The basic functions of the advanced remote are the same as the 3•2•1 remote described below.

Buttons on the remote control are grouped according to function. Other buttons on the media center provide some of the same controls described below.

POWER and MUTE controls

Switches the system on or off.

Mutes/unmutes the system volume.

SOURCE controls

Selects the built-in CD/DVD player and turns the system on.

Unmutes the system volume.

Selects AUX as the sound source and turns the system on.

Unmutes the system volume.

Selects Video 1 as the sound source and turns the system on.

Unmutes the system volume.

Selects Video 2 as the sound source and turns the system on.

Unmutes the system volume.

Selects the built-in tuner and turns the system on to the previously selected AM station.

Unmutes the system volume.

Selects the built-in tuner and turns the system on to the previously selected FM station.

Unmutes the system volume.
