Endast sådana processkemikalier får användas som är kontrollerade och godkända (t.ex. VAH/DGHM- eller FDA-godkännande eller CE-märkning) och har rekommenderats av kemikalietillverkaren när det gäller

materialkompabilitet. Alla användningsanvisningar från kemikalietillverkaren om temperatur, koncentration och verkningstid måste följas noga. I annat fall kan följande problem uppstå:

•optiska förändringar av materialet som t.ex. blekning eller färgförändringar på aluminium. På aluminium kan synliga ytförändringar uppträda redan vid pH-värde >8 i användnings-/ brukslösningen.

•Skador på materialet, som t.ex. korrosion, sprickor, brott, åldring i förtid eller svällning.
