Troubleshooting Guide

If there is a problem, first refer to this Troubleshooting Guide. If this Troubleshooting Guide does not resolve the problem, contact your dealer or nearest Canon Service Center.

Power

The battery cannot be recharged with the battery charger provided.

To prevent mishaps, the battery charger cannot recharge any battery other than Battery Pack LP-E4.

The camera does not operate even when the power switch is set to <1>.

The battery is not properly installed in the camera. (p.29) Make sure the memory card slot cover is closed. (p.32)

If the top LCD panel does not display the camera settings, recharge the battery. (p.26)

The access lamp remains on even when the power switch is set to <2>.

The images are still being recorded to the memory card. After all the images are recorded to the memory card, the access lamp turns off and the camera turns off automatically.

The battery becomes exhausted quickly.

Use a fully-charged battery. (p.26)

The battery performance might have degraded. See the [6Battery info.] menu to check the battery’s performance level (p.187). If the battery performance is poor, replace the battery with a new one.

The camera turns off by itself.

Auto power off is in effect. If you do not want auto power off to take effect, set the [5Auto power off] menu to [Off].
