2.2 Network Protection

Release 1.1 provides the Forward Defect Indication (FDI) switch (f d i_s w itch ) , wh ich ca n b e en ab led or

disabled. When fdi_switch is enabled, the FDI alarm causes the traffic to switch p aths . A CLIP recei ve s

the FDI alarm if and only if its companion CLIP loses its client-side input signal. The severity of the FDI

alarm is minor.
