FutureBay II/Modular Bay

Your new Notebook provides you with the ability to interchange drives (CD, DVD, CD-RW, DVD/CD-RW, or diskette drive), spare batteries, or a weight saver using a swapping design called FutureBay II (or Modular Bay).

Using the FutureBay II/Modular Bay

SDid you know... With FutureBay II/Modular Bay, you can swap drives at any time whether your Notebook is on or off.

See also “Components on the Underside” in Chapter 2 of this guide to locate the FutureBay II/Modular Bay quick-release handle.

While using your Notebook, you can switch between drives and battery with ease. To switch from one FutureBay II/Modular Bay device to another, complete the following steps:

1.Make sure that the FutureBay II/Modular Bay device you wish to unplug is not running.

JTip To avoid losing data, Compaq recommends that you use the operating system to completely stop a FutureBay II/Modular Bay drive from running before you remove the drive from your Notebook. Refer to the appropriate Web site for information about using the operating system to stop drives before unplugging them.

2.Pull the FutureBay II/Modular Bay quick-release handle outward until the FutureBay II/Modular Bay device ejects from the FutureBay II/Modular Bay slot.
