Fuel Filter Air Cleaner

Gasolineanditsvaporsareextremelyflammableandexplosive.Fire

orexplosioncancausesevereburnsor death.

•Keepgasolineawayfromsparks,openflames,pilotlights, heat,

andotherignitionsources.

•Checkfuellines,tank, cap,andfittingsfrequentlyforcracks or

leaks.Replaceifnecessary.

•Beforereplacingthefuelfilter,drain thefueltank asperthe

instructionsbelow.

•Donotdrain fuel whenthe engineis hot.Allowthe engine

adequatetimetocool. Drainfuelinto an approvedcontainer

outdoors,awayfromopenflame.

•Drainanylargevolumeof fuelfromthe tankby disconnectingthe

fuellinefrom thein-linefuelfilternearthe engine.

•Removethefuelline fromtheIn-lineside (sidetowardsthefuel

tank)of thefuelfilter.

•Replacementpartsmustbe the sameand installedinthe same

positionastheoriginal parts.

•Iffuel spills,waituntil itevaporatesbeforestartingengine.

•Beforereplacingthefuelfilter,drain thefueltank. Otherwisefuel

canleakout and causea fireor explosion.

ToDrainthe fuel:

1. Locatethefuelfilter,whichisroutedontheleftsideof theengine

betweenthefuel tankandthecarburetor,andmaybe attachedto

theenginewitha tiestrap.Cutthetie strap,ifpresent,thenpinch

thein-lineclamponthefuel filterwitha pairof pliers,slidethe

clampupthefuelline. Pullthefuellinefreefrom thefilterandplace

theopenendof thelineintoanapprovedcontainerto drainthefuel.

Tochangethe fuel filter:

1. Usepliersto squeezethetabsonthe otherclamp(theout-line

sideofthe fuelfilter), thenslidetheclamp awayfromthefuelfilter.

Twistandpullthe fuellineoff ofthe fuelfilter. SeeFigure13.

2. Checkthefuel linesfor cracksor leaks.Replaceifnecessary.

3. Replacethefuel filterwithan originalequipmentreplacement

filter.Call1-800-4-MY-HOME®to purchasetheoriginalequip-

mentreplacementfilter.

4. Securethefuel lineswith theclamps.

Iffilters,or coversarenot installedcorrectlyseriousinjuryordeath

couldresultfrom backfire.Donotattemptto startthe enginewith

themremoved.

Donotuse pressurizedairor solventstocleanthe air cleaner

cartridge.

Theair filtersystemusesa cylindricalcartridge.

1. Removethefasteners(A)andthe air filtercover (B). See Figure

14.

2. Toremovethe filter(C), liftthe endofthe filterandthen pullthe

filteroff the intake(D).

3. Toloosendebris,gently tapthe filteron a hardsurface.If thefilter

is excessivelydirty,replacewithanewfilter.

4. installthe filteronthe intake.Pushthe endof thefilterintothe

baseas shown.Makesurefilter fits securelyin the base.

5. installair filtercoverandsecurewith fasteners.
