Parking Brake Adjustment
Neverattempttoadjustthe brakeswhilethe engineis running.
AlwaysdisengagePTO,moveshiftleverintoneutralposition,stop
engineandremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
Ifthe tractordoes notcometo a completestopwhenthe brakepedal
iscompletelydepressed,orif the tractor'srearwheelscan roll withthe
parkingbrakeapplied,thebrakeis in needof adjustment.Contactthe
nearestSears Service Center to haveyourbrakesproperlyadjusted.

CUTTING DECK REMOVAL
To remove the cutting deck, proceed as follows:
1. Place the PTO(Blade Engage)leverin the disengaged(OFF)
positionandengagethe parkingbrake.
2. Lowerthe deck bymovingthe deck lift lever intothebottom
notchon the rightfender.
3. Removetheself-tappingscrew(A)that securesthebelt-keeper
rodfromaroundthe tractor'sPTOpulley,thenremovethe belt
keeperrod(B). See Fig. 19.
NOTE: Makea mentalnotewhatholethe otherend of thebelt-keeper
rodisinsertedinforreinstallationpurposes.
4. Removethebelt(C) from aroundthetractor'sPTO pulley.See

6. Repeattheabove stepsonthe tractor'srightside.
NOTE:The bow-tieclipsshouldbe re-installedfromthetop down.
7. Movethedecklift lever intothe topnotchon the rightfender to
raisethedecklift arms upand out ofthe way.
Avoidpinchinginjuries.Neverplaceyourfingersonthe idlerspringor
betweenthebeltand a pulleywhile removingthebelt.
