IMPORTANT: Theuseof a pressurewashertoclean yourtractoris
NOTrecommended.It maycausedamageto electricalcomponents,
spindles,pulleys,bearingsortheengine.
Ascrewplug canbe foundon yourtractor'sdeck surfaceas seenin
Fig.16.This plugcan bereplacedwith a waterportto be usedas part
ofa separately-availabledeckwash system.
TheDeckWashSystemTM isusedto rinsegrassclippingsfrom the
deck'sundersideandpreventthebuildupof corrosivechemicals.

Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhilethe engineis running,
exceptwherespecifiedinthe operator'smanual.
Leveling the Deck
NOTE: Checkthetractor'stire pressurebeforeperforminganydeck
levelingadjustments.Referto Tiresin the Servicesectionofthis
manualformoreinformationregardingtirepressure.
Front To Rear
Thefrontof the cuttingdeck is supportedbya stabilizerbarthat can
beadjustedto levelthedeckfrom fronttorear.The frontofthe deck
shouldbebetween1A-inchand 3A-inchlowerthanthe rearof thedeck.
Adjustif necessaryasfollows:
1. Withthetractor parkedona firm, levelsurface,placethe leverfor
liftingthe platformonthe secondtothe top notch(secondhighest
position)androtatethe bladeascloseto thedischargechannel
thatis parallelto the tractor. 22
2. Measurethedistancefromthefront ofthe bladetiptothe ground
andthe rearof the bladetip to theground. Thefirst measure-
menttakenshouldbe between1A"and 3A"lessthanthesecond
measurement.Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,ifnecessary,tothe next step.
3. Locatetheflangelocknut onthe frontsideof thestabilizer
bracket.SeeFig.17.
Tightentheflangelock nutto raisethefrontof thedeck;
Loosentheflange locknutto lowerthefront of thedeck.

Side to Side
Ifthe cuttingdeckappearsto be mowingunevenly,asideto side
adjustmentcanbeperformed.Adjustif necessaryasfollows:
1. With the tractorparkedon a firm, levelsurface,placethe deck lift
leverin thesecondfromthe top notch(secondhighestposition)
androtateboth bladessothat theyare perpendicularwiththe
tractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe outsideof theleft bladetip to the
groundandthe distancefromtheoutsideof therightblade tipto
theground.Both measurementstakenshouldbe equal.Ifthey're
not,proceedto the nextstep.
3. Loosen,butdo NOTremove,thehex cap screwonthe left deck
hangerbracket.SeeFig. 18.
4. Balancethedeck byusing a wrenchtoturn theadjustmentgear
(foundimmediatelybehindthehexcap screwjust loosened)
clockwise/uporcounterclockwise/down.Thedeck is properly
balancedwhenbothbladetip measurementstakenearlier are
equal.
5. Retightenthe hexcap screwon the left deck hangerbracket
whenproperadjustmentisachieved.
