mowerdeck.Toengagethiscontrol, press
andholdthe leveragainstthehandlebar
grip.Tostopthe blades,releasetheblade
control.Alwaysdisengagetheblade
controlbeforestartingtheengine.This
helpstoensurethat the bladeswill not
startturningwhenthe enginestarts.

DRIVE CONTROL

Thedrivecontrolis used to engage
anddisengagedriveto thewheels.To
engagethiscontrol,squeezethedrive
controlagainstthehandlebargrip.To
stopthedrive, releasethedrivecontrol.
IMPORTANT:Alwaysreleasethedrive
controlbeforechangingspeeds.

Usethislever toselectanyof fourforwardgroundspeeds,neutral,or
reverse.

Recoil Starter

Oil Drain Valve

Air Cleaner Handle
Theaircleanerhandleis used to gainaccess to theair cleaner.Theair
cleanercartridgecanberemovedandcleanedor replaced.Referto
theMaintenancesectionfordetails.
Forward
Therearefourforwardspeeds. Positionone(1)is the slowestand
positionfour(4) is thefastest.
Reverse
Toselectreverse,putthe leverin the Reverse(R) position.
Neutral
Placethelever inneutral (N) beforestartingthe mower,andwhenthe
mowerisnot in use.In addition,the mowercan be manuallypushed
orpulledby placingthe gear shiftleverinto N (neutral) positionand
pressingthedrivecontrolagainstthe handlebargrip.
Ifcartridgeor coverareinstalledincorrectly,seriousinjuryordeath
couldresultfrom backfire.Donotattemptto startyourenginewith
themremoved.
Spark Plug/Spark Plug Wire
Refertothe Maintenancesectionforinstructionson sparkplug
replacement.
Oil Cap/Dipstick
Refertothe Maintenancesectionforinstructionsonchecking theoil.
Toavoiddamagingthetransmission,donot shift gearswhenthe
mowerismoving.Releasedrivecontrolbeforeshiftinggears.
Lookbehindthemowerbeforeand duringreverseoperation.Stop
the mowerbladesbeforeoperatinginreverse.
