valuefromwarranty,operatormustmaintainthelawnmoweras
instructedinthismanual.
Changingofengine-governedspeedwillvoid enginewarranty.
• Alladjustmentsshouldbecheckedatleast onceeachseason.
Periodicallycheckallfastenersandmakesure theyare tight.

ENGINE MAINTENANCE

Checking the Spark Plug
Cleansparkplugand resettheelectrodegapto 0.030"atleastonce a
season;replaceevery100hoursof operation.
1. Cleanareaaroundthesparkplug base.Do not sandblastspark
plug.Sparkplugshould becleanedby scrapingor wire brushing
andwashingwitha commercialsolvent
2. Removeand inspectthe sparkplug.Checkgap to makesureit is
setat .030".SeeFigure9.
3. Replacethe spark plug if electrodesarepitted,burned,or the
porcelainiscracked.

Servicing the Air Cleaner
Iffilters,or coversare notinstalledcorrectlyseriousinjuryor death
couldresultfrom backfire.Donotattemptto startthe enginewith
themremoved.
Donotuse pressurizedairorsolventsto cleanthe air cleaner
cartridge.
Cleanor replacetheair cleanerevery25 hoursof operation.

3. Carefullyremoveaircleanercartridgeandpre-cleaner(if
equipped)fromtheblowerhousing.
4. Cleanthebase oftheair cleanercartridgecarefullytoprevent
debrisfromenteringthe engine.
5. Placethepre-cleaner,ifequipped,andcartridgebackinto the
blowerhousing.Thecartridgemustbe placedsecurelyinto
position.
6. Aligntabsoncover withslotsin blowerhousingand replacethe
cover.
