iMPORTANT:Ifanymetal separationispresent,replacetheblades
withnewones.
Toproperlysharpenthecuttingblades,removeequalamountsof
metalfrombothends ofthe bladesalongthecuttingedges, parallelto
thetrailingedge,at a 250to 300angle,Figure21.

Itis importantthat eachcuttingbladeedge begroundequallyto
maintainproperbladebalance.Apoorlybalancedbladewill cause
excessivevibrationandmaycausedamagetothe mowerandresult
inpersonalinjury.Thebladecan betested bybalancingit ona round
shaftscrewdriver.Grindmetalfrom theheavyside untilit balances
evenly.
Blade Installation
1. Wheninstallinga blade,placethe sideof the bladewith a part
numberstampedinit facingthegroundwhen themoweris in the
operatingposition.
2. Useatorquewrenchto tightenthespindleflange nutto between
70-90foot-pounds.
REPLACING BELTS
Beforeperforminganytypeof maintenanceon themachine,waitfor
allpartsto stopmovinganddisconnectthesparkplugwire. Failureto
followthisinstructioncouldresultinpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage
Avoidthepossibilityof a pinchinginjury.Donot placeyourfingers
betweenbeltsandpulleys.
Themowerusesthreebelts:1)drivebelt,2) deckengagementbelt,3)
bladetimingbelt.Beforereplacinga belt,observehowthebeltis routed
aroundthepulleysandbracketstohelpwheninstallingareplacement.
IMPORTANT:The beltson the mowerarespeciallydesignedto
engageanddisengagesafely.Fora properworkingmachine,use
factoryapprovedbelts.
Replacing the Drive Belt
1. Stopengine,waitforallparts to stopmoving,anddisconnect
sparkplugwire.
