TO MAKE A COMPOUND CUT WITH
YOUR MITER SAW:
Pulloutthe lock pinand lift saw arm to itsfull •
height.
Loosenthe miter lock handle. Rotate the miter lock
handleapproximately one-half turnto the le_tto
loosen.
Press the miter lock plate down with your thumb
andhold.
Rotate the controlarm until the pointer aligns with
the desired angle on the miter scale.
Release the miter lockplate.
Note: You can quicklylocate0", 22-1/2" leftor
right,and 45" left or right by releasingthe miter
lockplate asyou rotate the control arm. The miter
lockplate will seat itself in one of the positive stop
notches,located in mitertable frame.
Tightenthe miter lock handle securely.

alwaystightenthe miter lock handle securely
before making acut. Failureto do so could result
in movementof the control armor miter table
while making a cut.
Loosenthe bevel lockknob and move the sawarm
tOthe _e_ttothe desired bevel angle.
Bevel angles canbe setfrom 0"to 45".
For your conveniencethere is adouble scale
locatedon the mountingbracket. See Figure 27.If
oneside becomes difficultto read as you movethe
saw arm tothe left, simply referto the other side.
Alignthe indicatorpointfor the side you choose
withthe desired angle.
Once thesaw armhas been set at the desired
angle, securelytightenthe bevel lock knob.
Recheck miterangle setting. Make a test cut in
scrap material.
Place theworkpiece flat on the mitertable with
oneedge securely against the fence. If the board
iswarped, place the convex side against the
fence. If the concave edge of a board could
collapseon the blade at the end of the cut,
jammingthe blade. SeeFigures 33 and 34.
When cuttinglongpieces of lumber or molding,
supportthe oppositeend of the stockwith a miler
stand or witha work surface _evelwiththe saw
table. See Figure 31,
Align the cutting lineon the workpiece with the
edge of saw blade.
Grasp the stock firmly withone hand and secure it
againstthe fence. Usethe optional work clamp or
a C-clamp to secure the workpiece when possible.

_IL WARNING: To avoidserious personal injury,
alwayskeep your hands outside the nohands
zone; at least 3in. from blade. Never perform any
cutting operationfreehand (without holding
workpiece against thefence). The blade could
grab the workpiece ifit slips or twists.
