Whensharpeningthe blade,followthe original angleof grindasa guide.It isextremelyimportant thateachcuttingedgereceivesanequalamountof

grindingto preventan unbalancedblade.Anunbal- ancedbladewill causeexcessivevibrationwhen

rotatingat highspeedsandmaycausedamageto theunit.

Thebladecanbetestedfor balancebybalancingit ona roundshaftscrewdriverornail.Removemetal fromtheheavysideuntilit is balancedevenly.See figure21.

When reassembling the blade, tighten to between 550 and 650 inch pounds, or lacking torque wrench, tighten securely.

FLAILS

The flails, located inside the housing, may be reversed when they become dull. It is suggested that this procedure be performed by your nearest Sears Service Department.

CARBURETORADJUSTMENT

WARNING: IF ANY ADJUSTMENTS ARE

,_ MADE TO THE ENGINE WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING (E.G. CARBURE-

TOR), KEEP CLEAR OF ALL MOVING PARTS. BE CAREFUL OF HEATED SUR-

FACES AND MUFFLER.

The carburetor has been pre-set at the factory and should not require adjustment. However, if your engine does not operate properly due to suspected carburetor problems, take your chipper-shredder to your nearest SEARS Service Center.

ENGINESPEED

Your engine speed has been factory set. Do not attempt to increase engine speed or it may result in personal injury. If you believe the engine is running too fast or too slow, take your chipper-shredder to the nearest SEARS Service Center for repair and adjust- ment.
