FROZEN BEVERAGES

Fresh Fruit Smoothi e

Layers of f resh frui t blend i n just se conds to m ake this
all-fruit s moothie.
Makes six 8 -ounce se rvings
½ cup orange juic e
1 cup cantaloupe, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 cup raspberrie s (fresh or f rozen)
¾ cup pineapple c hunks in 1-inch pieces
(fresh or cann ed, drained)
1 cup navel orange segments, cut into 1-inch pie ces
1 cup strawberri es, hulled an d halved
¾ cup mango, cut in to 1-inch pieces
1 medium banana, cut into ½-inc h slices
1 cup ice cubes ( about 6 stand ard)
Layer the in gredients in the b lender ja r in the o rder list ed. Place cover
on blender jar. Selec t Liquefy and proc ess for 25 –30 se conds unti l
smooth.
Note: The riper the fruit, t he sweeter the smooth ie.

Pomegranate & Str awberry Smooth ie

With antioxi dants and calcium, this delic ious and refreshin g
smoothie is a great w ay to star t the day. If desired , add a s coop
of whey or s oy protein powder.
Makes about 6 cups
cups pomegranat e juice*
1 cup fat-free plai n yogurt
2 tablespoons hon ey (or to tast e)
12 ounces partially thawed f rozen strawber ries
(let stand at r oom temperatu re for about 10-15 mi nutes
before blending )
For garnish : orange or tange rine slice s, fresh pomegran ate seeds
(about ½ t ablespoon per ser ving).
Place all in gredients (except g arnish) in blende r jar. Sele ct Liquef y and
blend for a bout 20– 30 secon ds until s mooth, cre amy and h omogenous .
Serve as i s, or gar nish each serving with a wed ge of ora nge or
tangerine, and a spr inkling of fresh po megranate seeds.

*You may use e ither fre shly made pomegran ate juice or purcha sed
pomegranate juice. To p repare fr esh pomeg ranate jui ce in your
Cuisinart® SmartPowe r Classic Blender, re move the se eds from a
fresh pome granate. Pl ace in bl ender jar. Select Pu rée and b lend until
puréed. Pre ss the pu rée throu gh a fine mesh stra iner to re move seed
particles.
One average pomegran ate will yi eld about ½ cup fr esh pomeg ranate
juice.

Berry, Pear & Ging er Smoothie

Makes about 6 cups
¾ cup cranberr y juice
¾ cup pear nectar
2 pears, ripe but firm (about 1 pound total) , peeled, cor ed,
cut into 1-inch pi eces
1 cup lowfat vanil la yogurt
¾ cup frozen raspb erries
½ teaspoon ginger (or ½ tablesp oon candied g inger)
8 ice cubes
