Removing the RAID Battery

The information in this section applies only to systems with the optional PERC controller card.

1Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

2Rotate the system feet inward and lay the system on a flat surface.

3Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 90.

4Hold the touch points and lift the expansion card stabilizer away from the cooling shroud.

5Remove the storage controller card. See "Removing an Expansion Card" on page 118.

6To disconnect the RAID battery cable from the connector on the storage card, press the tab on the RAID battery cable connector, and gently pull the cable connector out of the connector on the storage card.

7Pull the battery carrier release tab, and lift the battery carrier out of the battery carrier slots on the chassis. See Figure 3-15.

8Pull back gently on the two tabs holding the RAID battery and lift the RAID battery from the battery carrier. See Figure 3-15.
