DTS 96/24

Die für die Aufnahme von Musik verwendete Abtastfrequenz, Bit-Anzahl und Anzahl der Kanäle, usw. wurde im Studio in den letzten Jahren erhöht, und es gibt eine ansteigende Anzahl von hochqualitativen Signalquellen, einschließlich 96 kHz/24 Bit 5.1-Kanal-Quellen.

Z. B. gibt es DVD-Videoquellen mit hoher Bild-/Tonqualität mit 96 kHz/24 Bit Stereo-PCM-Audiospuren.

Da jedoch die Datenrate für diese Audiospuren extrem hoch ist, wird deren Aufnahme auf zwei Kanäle begrenzt und da die Qualität dieser Bilder eingeschränkt sein muss, sind normalerweise nur Standbilder inbegriffen. Außerdem ist 96 kHz/24 Bit 5.1-Kanal-Surround bei DVD-Audio-Quellen möglich, dennoch müssen die DVD- Audio-Player diese mit hoher Qualität wiedergeben.

DTS 96/24 ist ein von Digital Theater Systems Inc. entwickeltes Mehrkanal-Digitalsignalformat, mit dem diese Situation bewältigt werden kann.

Konventionelle Surround-Formate verwenden Abtastfrequenzen von 48 oder 44,1 kHz, folglich war 20 kHz die maximale Wiedergabe-Signalfrequenz.Mit DTS 96/24 wird die Abtastfrequenz auf 96 oder 88,2 kHz erhöht, um einen breiten Frequenzbereich von über 40 kHz zu erzielen.

Außerdem hat DTS 96/24 eine Auflösung von 24 Bits, wodurch das gleiche Frequenzband und der gleiche Dynamikbereich wie bei 96 kHz/24 Bit PCM erreicht wird.

Wie beim konventionellen DTS Surround ist DTS 96/24 mit maximal 5.1 Kanälen kompatibel, sodass mit DTS 96/24 aufgenommene Quellen mit hoher Abtastfrequenz wiedergegeben werden können, Mehrkanal-Audio mit solch normaler Media wie DVD-Videos und CDs.

Folglich kann mit DTS 96/24 der gleiche 96 kHz/24 Bit-Mehrkanal-Surroundsound wie bei DVD-Audio erzielt werden, während DVD-Videobilder auf einem konventionellem DVD-Videoplayer ( 1).wiedergegeben werden. Ferner kann mit DTS 96/24 kompatiblen CDs in normalen CD-/LD-Playern ( 1) 88,2 kHz/24 Bit-Mehrkanal- Surround erzielt werden.

Auch bei den hochqualitativen Mehrkanal-Signalen ist die Aufnahmezeit die gleiche wie bei konventionellen DTS- Surroundquellen.

Des Weiteren ist DTS 96/24 mit konventionellem DTS-Surroundformat vollkommen kompatibel, deshalb können DTS 96/24-Signalquellen mit einer Abtastfrequenz von 48 kHz oder 44,1 kHz auf konventionellen DTS- oder DTS- ES-Surround-Decodern ( 2) abgespielt werden.

1: Ein DVD-Player mit DTS-Digitalausgangsfähigkeiten (für CD/LD-Player, ein Player mit digitalen Ausgängen für konventionelle DTS CDs/LDs) und eine in DTS 96/24 aufgenommene Disc sind erforderlich.
