Setting the Test Tone

Set the volume of the various speakers so that the sound output from the speakers and the subwoofer seems to have the same volume level.

Input Setup

Setting the Digital In Assignment

This assigns the different input sources for the digital input terminals.

1 Press F to select “Yes”.

2 Press F G to set, then press H.

Auto:

Adjust the level while listening to the test tones produced automatically from each speaker.

Test tones are automatically emitted from each speaker.

Manual:

Adjust with the speaker from which the test tone is output switched manually.

•To adjust the channel level separately for the different play modes after setting the channel level, perform the operation on page 36.

1 Press F G to select “2. In”, then press ENTER.

2 Press D H to select the input terminals, then press F G to set.

CD, AUX, DVD, TV, VCR, V.AUX, CD-R:

Assign the different source according to the devices connected to the AVR-587’s input terminals.

3 Press ENTER or H to enter the setting and switch to the iPod Assignment setting.

3 When “Auto” mode is selected: Press F G to adjust the volume.

The volume can be adjusted within the range –12 dB to +12 dB.

3 When “Manual” mode is selected:

Press D H to select the speaker, then press F G to -2adjust the volume.

4 Press ENTER to finish the Test Tone setting.

5 Press ENTER to enter the setting and switch to the Option Setup.

¢Adjusting the test tone using the remote control

unit

Adjustment of the test tones using the remote control unit is only possible in the “Auto” mode and only valid in the STANDARD (Dolby/DTS Surround) mode. The adjusted levels are automatically stored for the different surround modes.

1 Press [TEST TONE].

• Test tones are output from the different speakers.

2 Press F G to adjust the volume.

3 Press [TEST TONE].

•Digital input terminal assignment not possible for “TUNER”.

•It is not possible to make the Digital In Assignment settings for the function assigned at iPod Assignment mode.
