Mosttypes of television interference can be remedied by adjusting the height and position of
the VHF/UHF antenna. Outdoor antennas are recommended for best results if not using cable
ora satellite. The most common types of television interference are shown below. If one of
thesesymptoms appear when the TV is connected to a Cable TV system, the disturbance may
becaused by the local cable company broadcast.
IGNITION:
Blackspots or horizontal streaks may appear, picture may flutter
ordrift. Usually caused by interference from automobile ignition
systems,neonlamps, electric drills and other electric appliances.
GHOSTS:
Ghostsare caused by the television signal following two paths.
Oneis the direct path and the other is reflected from tall buildings,
hillsor other objects. Changing the direction or position of the
antennamay improve the reception.
SNOW:
Ifyour receiver is located in the fringe area of a television station
wherethe signalis weak, your picture may be marred by the
appearanceof small dots. When the signal is extremely weak,
itmay be necessary to install an external antenna to improve
thepicture.
RADIOFREQUENCY INTERFERENCE:
Thisinterference produces moving ripples or diagonal streaks,
andin some cases, causes loss of contrast in the picture.
PICTURESIZE VARIATION:
Aslight picture size variation is quite normal when you adjust
theCONTRAST or BRIGHTNESS setting.
