Switch Ports

TheMatrixSeriesmodulesandstandalonedeviceshavefixedfrontpanelswitchportsand,
dependingonthemodel,optionalexpansionmoduleslots.Thenumberingschemeusedto
identifytheswitchportsonthefrontpanelandtheexpansionmodule(s)installedisinterfacetype
dependentandisalsodependentuponthechassisinwhichthemodule(s)areinstalled.

Port String Syntax Used in the CLI

SlotlocationformodulesinstalledinaMatrixN3orN5chassiscanbe:
0through3or0through5,with0designatingvirtualsystemports(lag,vlan,host,loopback),and
1designatingthelowestmoduleslotinthechassis.
Portnumbercanbe:
Anyportnumberinaslotlocation.Thehighestvalidportnumberisdependentonthenumberof
portsinaslotlocationandtheporttype.
Forexample:
Ifamoduleinslot1has48,100MbpsFastEthernetfrontpanelports,andanuplinkinterfacewith
6��MiniGBICs,therangeofportnumberdesignationsusedintheCLIcommandwouldbe:
fe.1.1throughfe.1.48forthe48100MbpsFastEthernetfrontpanelports,and
ge.1.1throughge.1.6forthe6MiniGBICuplinkports.
Iftheuplinkhasthesametype(fe)portsasthefrontpanel,thenumberingcontinueswiththeport
number��fe.1.49.

Note: You can use a wildcard (*) to indicate all of an item. For example, fe.3.* would represent all
100Mbps Ethernet (fe) ports in the module in slot 3.
