Configuring Port Mirroring

TheMatrixdeviceallowsyoutomirror(orredirect)thetrafficbeingswitchedonaportforthe
purposesofnetworktrafficanalysisandconnectionassurance.Whenportmirroringisenabled,
oneportbecomesamonitorportforanotherportwithinthedevice.

Supported Mirrors

ThefollowingtypesofportscanparticipateinmirroringontheMatrixSeriesdevice:
•Physicalports,includingfrontpanelandFTM1ports
•Virtualports,includingLinkAggregationGroup(LAG)andhostports.Fordetailson
configuringportsforlinkaggregation,refertoConfiguringLACPonpage 455.

Active Destination Port Configurations

EachMatrixDFEGoldSeriesdevicesupportsthreemirroringdestinationports,whichcanbe
configuredinamanytoonemirroringconfiguration(thatis,manydestinationsmirroredtoone
sourceport).
Purpose
Toreviewandconfigureportmirroringonthedevice.

Commands

show port mirroring

Usethiscommandtodisplaythesourceandtargetportsformirroring,andwhethermirroringis
currentlyenabledordisabledforthoseports.
Syntax
show port mirroring
Caution: Port mirroring configuration should be performed only by personnel who are
knowledgeable about the effects of port mirroring and its impact on network operation.
Note: Eight destination ports must be reserved for an IDS mirror.
