Changing DIP Switches and Using Setup

This Appendix describes how to change the DIP switches on the front panel of your computer and how to run the Setup program on your Reference diskette. You may need this information if you have changed the physical configuration of your computer or you want to set the parameters for a serial port.

Changing the DIP Switches

The DIP switches on your computer are set to provide the computer with information about its configuration. Each time you turn on your computer, it checks the DIP switch settings to verify the physical setup of your system.

The DIP switches are located underneath the cover on the front panel, below the disk drives, as shown below:

These switches are set at the factory for your particular configuration. If you change anything, however—such as the amount of memory, type of monitor, or number of parallel ports-you may need to change a setting.
