ALERT TONES

The Dual Format PCSradio generates a number of alert tones to indicate various events. The following section describes the alert tones for the Dual Format PCSradio.

Standard Tones

Power-Up

If programmed, a tone will sound on power-up after the radio passes the self-test.

Low Battery

A low pitch tone will sound every 130 seconds when the battery is low and needs charging.

Carrier Control Timer

The Carrier Control Timer (CCT) alert is a pulsed tone signal that sounds whenever the PTT button is continuously pressed for a prepro- grammed length of time. After nine seconds of pulsing the transmitter shuts down and communications is interrupted. To maintain communications, release and re-key the PTT switch. This resets the timer and turns the transmitter back on. The CCT is a built-in precaution against inadvertent use of the system.

Tones For Trunked Operation Only

Call Originate

EDACS - If programmed, a short tone is sounded whenever the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button is keyed and the radio has acquired a channel. This tone indicates the user may proceed to talk.

GE-MARC - If programmed, a three tone alert is sounded whenever the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button is keyed and the radio has acquired a channel. This tone indicates the user may proceed to talk.
