a) Stop engine and wait for all moving part s t o stop. Remove key or spark plug
wire(s).
b) Drain oil while engine is warm f rom operation.
c) The oil drain valve is located on lef t hand side of eng ine.
Place pan under machine to cat c h oil and t urn valve counter clockwise with a
10 mm wrench to open valve. Allow oil to drain, then turn valve clockwise to
close.
d) Replace the oil f ilter as per Engine Owner's Manual. Clean around oil filt er and
unscrew filter to remove. Before reinst alling new filter, apply a thin coating of oil
on the surface of t he r ubber seal. Turn filter clock wise until rubber seal contacts
the f ilt er adapter then t ighten f ilt er an additional 2/3 to 3/ 4 t urn.
e) Clean around oil f ill cap and r emove cap. Fill to the specified capacity and
replace cap. Use oil as specified in Engine Owners Manual. Do not overfill.
f) Start t he engine and check for leak s. St op engine and recheck oil levels.
5.1.10 Check g r ease level, input and out put shaft bearing wear on Peerless Transmission.
(Replace gearbox grease yearly)
Service Interval: 160 hrs.
a) Stop engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and r em ove k ey or spar k plug
wire(s).
b) Place drive levers and neutral lock / park brake latches in the neut r al lock
position.
c) Remove shifter lever from t op of transm ission.
d) Remove shifter plate fr om top of transmission and the two leads f r om the
neutral star t switch.
e) Release the tension on the t ransmission belt.
f) Check for side play caused by bearing wear on the input and out put shafts of
the transm ission. Replace bear ings if necessar y.
g) Remove the six bolts that fasten the upper case t o the lower case and
caref ully rem ove the upper case half.
h) Check the grease level in the lower case. The grease level should be
approximately 1-1/2” t o 1- 3/4” (3.8 t o 4. 4 cm ) from the gearbox bottom . If
necessary, fill to proper level with Peerless grease ( Par t No. 788067).
i) Reinstall upper case half and fast en in place with six bolts previously removed.
j) Reinstall all parts r e m oved in Steps c and d. Install drive belt and adjust
tension as stated in Sect ion 5.2.5.
5.1.11 Check tire pr essures.
Service Interval: Pneumatic (air-filled) Drive Tires – 40 hrs.
Semi-pneumati c Cast er Tires – No Mai nt enance
a) Stop engine and wait for all moving part s t o stop. Remove key or spark plug
wire(s). Check air pressure in drive tires; recom mended tire pressure is: 12 t o
16 psi (83-110 k Pa) ;
b) Inflate t ires t o pr essures stated above. Measure the circumference of each
drive tire. Adjust tire pressures within the above range t o t r y to m ake tire
circumferences match as closely as possible.
5.1.12 Inspect Belt wear.
