CAUTION
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Operating a mower deck with loose or weakened blade
bolts can be danger ous.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
A loose or weakened blade bolt could allow a blade
rotating at a high speed to come out from under t he deck,
causing serious injur y or pr oper ty damage.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Always re-install original Exmar k blades, blade bushings,
spring disc washers, and blade bolts in t he cor r ect
positions as shown.
5.1.5 Check safety interlock system.
Service Interval: Daily
a) For your safety, your Exmark mower is equipped with Operat or Pr esence
Controls (O PC). When either the PTO is engaged, or the transmission shift
lever is not in neutral and bot h hands ar e r em oved from the handles, t he
mower engine MUST stop.
b) Check OPC cir c uit s . Clear the area. Run engine at one-third throttle, then
with drive levers and neutral lock/ par k brake lat c hes in “park brake”
position, Shift the transmission into gear and r elease O PC levers – engine
MUST stop.
Again, r un engine at one-thir d t hrottle, move the t ransmission shift er lever t o
neutral, engage PTO and release OPC levers - engine MUST st op.
c) If machine does not pass any of these tests, DO NOT operate. Cont act
your authorized EXMARK SERVICE DEALER.
IMPORTANT: It i s essent i al that all O perat or Saf ety Mechanisms, be in
place and in proper operating condition prior to mowing.
5.1.6 Check for loose hardware.
Service Interval: Daily
a) Stop engine and wait for all moving part s t o st op. Remove ignition k ey or
spark plug wire(s).
b) Visually inspect machine for any loose hardware or any other possible
problem. Tighten hardware or corr ect the problem bef or e oper ating.
5.1.7 Check Brake and Wheel Drive Link age Adjustment
Service Interval: Daily
Refer t o Section 3.11. Note any bent link age or hardware, which may need
servicing or replacing.
5.1.8 Service pre-cleaner element and air cleaner.

a) Stop engine and wait for all moving part s to stop. Remove key or spar k plug
wire(s).
b) See engine owners manual f or cleaning instruct ions.
5.1.9 Change eng ine oil.
